WHO WE ARE

Founded in 2005, with the aim of discovering and empowering the abilities of special needs children, love and joy is at the core of our being. We believe that each child is different and we celebrate their uniqueness.

Sparsh For Children (SFC) embraces this diversity and caters to different needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Disorders, Attention Difficulties and Intellectual Disability. We are one of the few centres in South Delhi to provide all required support under one roof, including: Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Play & Social Skills Groups, Psychological Counselling and Speech & Language Therapy.

In tandem with our philosophy of celebrating uniqueness, each child’s progress path is designed with individual attention to their personal needs, strengths and baselines. Needless to say, parents are our guiding force and are involved in setting goals and planning for their child’s progress.

PROCESS

1

Detailed consultation with center head

The family’s first touch point at SFC is with the center head as a top-down approach is followed. The aim of this meeting is to understand the current needs and strengths of the child. A detailed discussion addressing the parents’ concerns sets the tone for the way forward. This interaction paves a path that is a correct fit for the child.

Screening of the child on various developmental parameters

Based on the initial meeting, a process of finding baselines begins. Our multi-disciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Special Educators, Language, Behaviour and Speech Therapists conduct assessments and establish baselines.

2

3

Creation of Individualised Intervention Programme

Once the baselines are established, an Individualised Intervention Programme is prepared. The programme generally includes components of OT, Speech and Special Education depending upon the need of the child. The child is given time to settle and always 1 therapy is introduced at a time. Once the child is settled, the second therapy session is initiated. In the beginning, the duration can approximately be of 1 month (SE) to 2 month (OT).

Close monitoring of goal achievement

Once the child is settled and the therapy sessions are in flow, the parents are encouraged to share their observations to help the team to build more effective programmes. Regular feedback from parents and the team contributes in consistent progress monitoring.

5

Review of child’s progress and adjustment of Individualised Intervention Programme

The child’s progress is regularly monitored and reviewed to enable suitable adjustments to the Individualised Intervention Programme.
